What is a Podcast?
Think of a Podcast as radio on demand.
A podcast is essentially a radio show that you can get on the Internet, so you can listen anytime you want.
Podcasts really aren’t that different than any other kind of radio program. The only difference is that podcasts are delivered over the Internet for everyone to listen to rather than using a traditional radio station.
You have two options:
You can listen to a podcast on a website (this is called streaming). Or, you can download a podcast, which means you’re saving it on your phone, or tablet, or computer, and you can listen to it anytime, even without an Internet connection.
Unlike traditional radio, which requires you to tune into a certain station at a certain time to hear your favorite program, podcasts allow you to listen to your favorite shows wherever, whenever, and however often you want.
Unlike live radio, podcasts can be played back, paused, and rewound on command. You don’t to worry about missing a single thing.
Listen while you’re driving, working around the house, walking on the beach, at the gym or sitting in the waiting room. Listen to part or all of a show, or binge on episode after episode—the choice is all yours.
And the beauty is you don’t even need a radio. You can listen anywhere, at any time, right on your smartphone, tablet or smart device.
For those new to podcasts, getting started is really quite easy.
